Entrepreneur, politician, and humanitarian Ehsan Bayat accepted an appointment to the Afghanistan Upper House of Parliament (Meshrano Jirga) in 2011. A member of Afghanistan’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Ehsan Bayat has been awarded the prestigious National Human Rights Award, an honor conferred by President Hamid Karzai and the Afghanistan Human Rights Association. In 2012, Mr. Bayat was awarded an honorary doctorate by the American University of Afghanistan at the institution’s historic second commencement ceremony.

A longtime supporter of Afghanistan, Ehsan Bayat has invested more resources into the country than any other U.S. citizen in history. One of his most significant contributions comes in the form of Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC), which he established in 2002.
