Apptera Appoints Randy Haldeman to Chief Marketing Officer
San Bruno, CA – March 27, 2007 – Apptera, a leading provider of technology for mobile advertising, search & commerce, today announced the promotion of Randy Haldeman to chief marketing officer. Haldeman, who has served as vice president of marketing at Apptera for the past year and a half, will continue to lead the company's marketing success with his outside-the-box thinking. Haldeman has more than two decades of experience in building companies in the enterprise software, Internet and media space.

As vice president of marketing for Apptera, Haldeman has been instrumental in leveraging Apptera's core technologies, such as "In-Call" personalization, heuristics and campaign management, into a series of innovative new products. These products, such as the company's MobileAd Technology solution, have led to major opportunities with carriers, enterprises and advertisers. In recognition of world-class solutions meeting market need, Apptera's MobileAd Technology recently won two innovation awards – the "Global Innovation" award at the European Directory Marketplace 2007 (EDM07), and the "Best Innovation" award at SpeechTEK West 2007.
Prior to joining Apptera, Haldeman served as senior vice president of marketing for the technology arm of Michael Milken's Knowledge Universe. Prior to joining Knowledge Universe, Haldeman was the general manager and vice president of marketing at Ten-TV and a director of business development at VDOnet. Haldeman earned his BSEE from Duke University.

Carl Showalter
Carl Showalter is a founding partner of Opus Capital focusing primarily on networking software, systems and semiconductor investments. Previously, Carl was a General Partner with Lightspeed Venture Partners. Prior to joining Lightspeed, he was the vice president of marketing for Juniper Networks where he led the company's global marketing and product management teams. Showalter joined Juniper from UUNET, where he served as vice president and general manager of UUNET's $2B revenue dial and DSL wholesale business. Before that, he was director of product management at America Online's Networking Division, ANS. Showalter started his career with Bellcore, focusing on packet data services and network security.
Showalter holds a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University.
Peter Loukianoff
Peter Loukianoff joined Alloy Ventures in January 2001 from Technology Funding, Inc. Prior to that, Loukianoff was on the founding management teams of two venture-backed start-ups: Autonomy, Inc. (now part of Autonomy Corp. PLC, LSE: AU) and Ubiquinet, Inc. (now part of C-Cor, NASDAQ: CCBL). He also started and ran the cable division of Alliance Systems, Inc. (acquired by Mobile Data Solutions, NASDAQ: MDSI). Loukianoff began his career as a design engineer with Zurich-based ABB, Ltd.
From the beginnings of Mikhail Gorbachev's Perestroika program in 1989 through 1994, he pioneered post-Cold War-era technology joint ventures between prominent Russian scientific institutions and leading U.S. and European companies. Loukianoff is currently on the board of directors of Apptera, Attune Systems, and Sapias. His prior investments include AudioBasket (acquired by eMotion, Inc.), K2 Optronics, Versata (NASDAQ: VATA) and ZipRealty (NASDAQ: ZIPR). He earned a B.S. in Engineering and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Mary Coleman
Mary Coleman has been a venture capitalist with Walden International since 2002 and has more than 25 years of high tech operating experience. She focuses on investments in software, Internet and IT services and has led investments in the following companies: SugarCRM (open source CRM), Savvion (Business Process Management), Genius.com (web analytics for sales reps), Funambol (open source wireless email), Apptera (voice-based mobile ad platform), Agiliance (IT Governance, Compliance and Security), and Levanta (Linux data center management appliance). Prior to joining Walden International, she worked as a Managing Director at Internet Capital Group and served as the CEO for one private company, Rightworks (sold to i2 Technologies), and two public companies, Baan (BAAN) and Aurum Software (ARUM). Mary studied electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

John Luongo
John Luongo has more than 30 years of chief executive and senior operations experience working with leading technology companies, including The Vantive Corporation, Oracle Corporation, Merrill, Pickard, Anderson and Eyre, and Tymshare, Inc. Currently, he is a venture partner with Opus Capital. Most recently, Luongo was president, CEO and chairman of The Vantive Corporation, a leading customer relationship management (CRM) software provider.
Previously, Luongo was senior vice president, International Division, for Oracle Corporation. He also worked as a senior consultant for Merrill, Pickard, Anderson and Eyre, a venture capital firm.
In 2001, he became a technology advisor to the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C. Luongo holds a bachelor's degree in East Asian History from the City University of New York and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
