Celera Diagnostics is a joint venture between the Applied Biosystems Group and Celera Genomics Group of Applera Corporation. Celera Diagnostics discovers, develops and commercializes novel molecular diagnostics that enable physicians to better diagnose, monitor and treat disease. We manufacture products for infectious disease testing and for genetic conditions such as cystic fibrosis. These products are primarily sold through our alliance with Abbott Laboratories. Our research is identifying genetic markers associated with common, complex diseases through large scale disease association studies. Celera Diagnostics’ primary goal is to develop these markers into new diagnostic products that provide medically relevant information to physicians and patients. Some of the genetic markers we are discovering are potential therapeutic targets for new drugs, and may also be useful in designing clinical trials for new or existing therapies.«Less
