Demand Media is a heavily backed domain acquisition company headed by Richard Rosenblatt, the former chairman of Intermix Media, the company that sold MySpace to News Corporation. It has raised $320 million over three rounds.
Rosenblatt’s Demand Media acquires domains that generate heavy traffic even if they have little or no content other than advertisements. It has also acquired and now manages such companies as eNom, a large domain name registrar and HillClimb Media, a producer of niche websites. Other companies managed by Demand Media include Deals.com, GolfLink.com and me.TV.
