EKOS ® Corporation pioneered the development and the clinical application of microsonic technologies in medicine, introducing its first system for the treatment of vascular thrombosis in 2005. Today, interventional radiologists, cardiologists and vascular surgeons at leading institutions across the nation use EKOS MicroSonic™ Accelerated Thrombolysis to provide safer, faster and more complete dissolution of thrombus. In 2008, the company introduced its 2nd generation EkoSonic™ Endovascular System with Rapid Pulse™ Modulation. The EkoSonic System is FDA cleared for controlled and selective infusion of physician-specified fluids, including thrombolytics, into the peripheral vasculature. It is currently used to treat patients with peripheral arterial occlusions (PAO) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and additional applications are being investigated.«Less

| Description: | EkoSonic™ Endovascular System with Rapid Pulse™ Modulation In Laboratory in vitro testing, the EkoSonic system dissolved thrombus twice as fast as earlier EKOS systems - and four times faster than conventional catheter - directed thrombolysis. With no evidence of thrombus breakage. And no hemolysis. The EkoSonic™ Endovascular System is intended for the controlled and selective infusion of physician – specified fluids including thrombolytics, into the peripheral vasculature. The EkoSonic™ Endovascular System is also intended for the infusion of solutions into the Pulmonary Arteries. The Safety and effectiveness of the EkoSonic Endovascular System for thrombolytic therapy administration in pulmonary embolus have not been established. In particular, the ultrasound energy delivered by the EkoSonic System is not intended to be therapeutic, nor has it been cleared with an indication for thrombolysis in pulmonary emboli. With Rapid Pulse™ Modulation The innovation behind this breakthrough is EKOS Rapid Pulse™ Modulation, which manipulates the amplitude and duration of the microsonic energy released into the clot to optimize its impact. In laboratory tests with identical samples, Rapid Pulse Modulation demonstrated greater clot permeability and drug penetration, resulting in accelerated dissolution. |
