Infinera is developing a chip for optical networks which controls the flow of light. Infinera provides optical solutions that serve as key building blocks for telecommunications service providers and has potential for cost-savings in their next-generation optical systems. The Infinera DTN is the first transport platform based on large-scale Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). Because PIC technology introduces cost-effective conversion between optics and electronics, the Infinera DTN is a flexible platform that provides full digital access to all network capacity-enabling advanced features, such as switching, grooming, multiplexing, bandwidth management, and performance management. The Infinera DTN is designed for carrier-class networks and is the core building block for the Digital Optical Network.
