MailChimp started out as a web development company back in April 2000, building web sites and applications for hundreds of clients around the globe.

Then in 2001, we found some of our clients were having trouble sending email newsletters to their customers. We listened to the problems they were having and decided to build our own application to help solve their problems. We programmed a simple tool that included everything our clients needed and nothing they didn’t. We made it so unbelievably simple, a monkey could use it. Thus, the name “MailChimp”.

Our clients loved it.

Since then, our little monkey has attracted hundreds of thousands of users and delivered bazillions of emails for small businesses, big corporations, university alumni associations, non-profits, creative agencies, and more.
