Meetro is a freely downloadable instant messaging client and real-time social networking application that is unique because it is location-aware. It detects your own physical location and then lets you see which other Meetro users are located nearby. Available for both Windows and Mac, Meetro also supports AIM, MSN, ICQ, and Yahoo IM services so you can combine all your buddies across different messaging services using Meetro as a singular platform to chat. Meetro also includes a social networking aspect allowing users to create their own profile in which they can not only provide information about themselves but also link to YouTube videos, their MySpace profile, Flickr account, and others. Meetro's ultimate offering is the ability to let people stay in touch with existing friends, meet new people online, and most importantly provide an avenue to physically meet new people in the real world.
