MicroFluidic Systems (MFSI) was founded in 2001 and is focused on the development of automated systems for biological assays. The company has focused their efforts on two sectors, Biodefense and Clinical Diagnostics. They were awarded a $30 Million contract by the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology division to develop a system that is capable of scanning the air for pathogens of interest. Currently the system is capable of detecting DNA, RNA and Toxins in an unattended state for 30 days at a time.
The next product the company will be launching is a field portable, cartridge based unit that is capable of performing complex analysis of dirty samples within 20 minutes.
