Roland Van der Meer
A ComVentures cofounder, Roland Van der Meer invests in technologies and early stage communications companies with the potential to redefine business and economic models, as well as the way in which whole segments of the communications industry operate. Listed 18th on the Forbes Midas List of top 100 technology dealmakers, he focuses his investments on systems, components and services.
Roland's recent investments and board seats include Ambric, Cloudshield, Fabrik, FilmLoop, FyreStorm, OpSource, PacketHop, Quantia and Sensys.
Roland was one of the first to spot the digital transmission revolution and funded PairGain. He followed this up by being the only venture investor in Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM), the broadband communications semiconductor company that led the frontier of digital signal processing. Roland was also the initial investor in Arbinet (Nasdaq: ARBX), which created and operates the world's largest market exchange for telecommunications carriers, and Zantaz, the leader in email/file archiving and retrieval.
A number of Roland's pioneering companies have been acquired by major communications industry players, including: Chromatis Networks (acquired by Lucent), Confertech (acquired by Frontier), dynamicsoft (acquired by Cisco), Monterey Networks (acquired by Cisco), PairGain (acquired by ADC) and Ascendent Systems (acquired by RIM).
He has more than 20 years of experience in the communications industry as an engineer, strategist and investor. Before helping to cofound ComVentures, Roland served as a partner with Partech International, co-founded Communications Ventures, and spent several years with Hambrecht & Quist Venture Partners. Early in his career, he held engineering positions with GTE Labs and Sprint.
G. Everett
Carl is a venture partner at Accel and has more than 30 years of technology management and investment experience. Before joining Accel, Carl served as senior vice president of Dell Computer Corporation's Personal Systems Group where he was responsible for worldwide development and marketing of all Dell desktop, workstation and notebook product lines. During his tenure, Dell captured the number one worldwide position in workstations, as well as desktop and notebook PCs. Prior to Dell, he enjoyed a 20-year career with Intel Corporation leading many of Intel's strategic efforts in setting industry and technology directions. Carl became an Intel vice president in 1989, overseeing North American sales and later all worldwide sales and marketing organizations. In 1994, he became senior vice president and general manager of Intel's Microprocessor Products Group. In that role, Carl oversaw the rapid market adoption of the Pentium processor and introduced P6 technology, the foundation of Intel's product roadmap into the late 1990s. Carl holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from New Mexico State University. In 1992, he was named NMSU's Distinguished Alumni, and in 1997 he was inducted into the university's College of Business Hall of Fame. In 2005 NMSU recognized Carl with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
Keyur Patel
Keyur A. Patel has served as a director of our company since October 2005. From June 2003 to March 2005, he served as executive vice president, business development / corporate strategy and global head of consumer electronics and digital entertainment for Maxtor Corporation, one of the world’s leading suppliers of hard disk drives for desktop, enterprise and consumer electronics applications. From April 2002 to March 2003, Mr. Patel served as senior vice president strategy, marketing and technology at Inktomi Corporation, a provider of World Wide Web search services for Internet portal and search destination sites prior to its acquisition by Yahoo! Inc. in March 2003. In April 2000, he founded wireless firm Brience, Inc., where he served as vice chairman and executive vice president, strategy and marketing until June 2002. Over the prior ten years, Mr. Patel held various executive positions, including chief strategy officer and member of the executive board and managing partner for e-business worldwide for KPMG Consulting Worldwide, managing director and chief architect at Price Waterhouse, co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Webvibe, Inc. and co-founder and chief technology architect of PSI Ltd. Mr. Patel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics and telecommunications from Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, India and a Master of Science degree in computer engineering from the Michigan Technology University.
