Novera Optics develops low-cost, high-performance optical access solutions to overcome the bandwidth bottlenecks in copper-based last mile networks.
Novera Optics λ-PON™ optical solutions, based on advanced wavelength-locked WDM-PON (Wavelength Division Multiplexed Passive Optical Network) technology, enable equipment vendors and service providers to address multiple markets with a single product. These markets include FTTB (Fiber-To-The-Building) and FTTC (Fiber-To-The-Curb) extensions, MxU (Multi-Dwelling and Multi-Tenant Units), RT (Remote Terminals), and the CO (Central Office).
Novera Optics was acquired by LG-Nortel in 8/08 for approximately $16M in cash, plus up to $10M in earn out.«Less

Products
| Name: | SpeedLIGHT |
| Product URL: | http://www.noveraoptics.com/technology/speedlight.php |
| Description: | The speedLIGHT product family is the ultimate DWDM technology for an efficient and future-proof WDM-transport system, architected and optimized for optical fiber access networks. The speedLIGHT family is made up of two products: * speedLIGHT 16 - a 2Gb technology with 16 wavelengths, supporting 125Mb symmetrical bandwidth, the speedLIGHT 16 provides 16 point-to-point bi-directional optical links over a single feeder fiber with each optical link operating at a dedicated, bidirectional and symmetric 125 Mbps data rate. This enables a total of 2.0 Gbps of bi-directional aggregate throughput by allocating a pair of dedicated wave lengths for each ONU. * speedLIGHT 32 - a 4Gb technology with 32 wavelengths, supporting 125Mb symmetrical bandwidth, the speedLIGHT 32 provides 32 point-to-point bi-directional optical links over a single feeder fiber with each optical link operating at a dedicated, bi-directional and symmetric 125 Mbps data rate. This enables a total of 4.0 Gbps of bi-directional aggregate throughput by allocating a pair of dedicated wave lengths for each ONU. SpeedLIGHT is based on Novera Optics' λ-PON™ utilizes identical and cost efficient DWDM ONUs throughuse of automatic wavelength locking technology and simple Fabry-Perot laser diodes. Greater ROI Benefits The speedLIGHT products are founded on a future-proof technology which will ultimately reduce CAPEX and OPEX for service providers offering a wide range of differentiating services to end users. The use of speedLIGHT technology would benefit all current point-to-point broadband users as well as any future service requests. The speedLIGHT products features include: * Color-free (identical) wavelength-independent DWDM ONUs * Reliable point-to-point dedicated connectivity * High security and privacy * Ease of installation, fiber plant characterization and servicing through use of a WDM-OTDR * Simple future data-rate and service upgradeability on a per customer basis Target Applications The Transport platform of speedLIGHT addresses telecom carriers deploying broadband access technologies. Target applications are Fiber to the Home/Building deployments The Module platform of speedLIGHT addresses system vendors who provide access and transport technologies into the telecom/data market |
