Margaret MacKenzie, Co-Founder, COO, CEO

Margaret is a co-founder of Paymo, sharing the vision with Paul McGuire that payments made via mobile phones would transform the market for digital content and services. Margaret has an extensive background in corporate and venture finance, and early stage company and financial services management. As CFO and COO Margaret is responsible for financial and fiscal management of the company's growth and operations and global business relationships.

Prior to founding Paymo, Margaret was the Chief Financial Officer for mBlox, Inc. responsible for international finance, corporate development, human resources and legal and administrative functions. Previous to mBlox, Margaret was CEO of 4charity, Inc., a venture- funded, online charitable transaction processing company. Prior to 4charity, Margaret was a founding managing director of SVB Securities (a subsidiary of Silicon Valley Bank). Margaret received her BA in International Relations from the University of California at Davis, and an MBA in Finance from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago.

Alexandre Gonthier, CTO

Alexandre comes to Paymo with many years of leadership and success in the internet and mobile payments industry. Alexandre joined Paymo from private equity firm 3i where he was Entrepreneur in Residence, focused on opportunities in the payments, mobile, internet and software sectors globally. Prior to 3i, Alexandre co-founded Valista (formerly iPIN), global leader in internet and mobile payments software. Alexandre was CEO of iPIN after having served as CTO at inception. Today, Valista's customers, large telecom operators such as Orange, Vodafone and NTT DoCoMo, process hundreds of millions of internet and mobile payment transactions a year for users across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific.

In his early career, Alexandre was an independent IT consultant in San Francisco and developed some of the very first large-scale e-commerce websites for customers such as Club Med and Sony. He began his career as a wireless engineer with San Jose, CA-based ArrayComm. Alexandre holds a Masters in Communications Systems from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne.

Margaret Kavalaris, VP Corporate Affairs

Margaret is responsible for managing Paymo's legal teams and guiding legal strategy in government and regulatory matters, corporate development and new business development. Margaret is a senior partner with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Washington DC, where she specializes in corporate finance, securities and intellectual property licensing for venture-backed, emerging growth companies.

Margaret has practiced law in Silicon Valley and Washington DC for over 20 years with DLA Piper and Cooley Godward Kronish, where she served in various executive management and founding partner positions for expansion offices, and worked with a wide variety of technology companies to incorporate them, secure initial rounds of financing, execute strategic technology and licensing deals, and manage their complex transactions such as mergers, acquisitions and initial public offerings. Margaret has been fortunate to advise successful technology ventures such as Informix, Vantive, Visigenic, Verity, Initiate Systems, Telocity, InPhonic, Everest Software, Sparta Systems, Gratis Internet and Distributive Networks, as well as investment banks in technology underwritings including JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs.

Margaret earned her bachelor's degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley, and her JD from the University of San Francisco, Kendrick Hall. She serves as a member of the Harvard Women's Leadership Board and Chair of the Women's Campaign Forum, Washington, DC.
