Scott Thompson, CTO
Scott Thompson is Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for PayPal. As Chief Technology Officer, he oversees information technology, product development, and architecture for PayPal. Mr. Thompson and his team are responsible for the products and systems architecture that will help fuel PayPal’s growth and enable global expansion. Prior to PayPal, Mr. Thompson worked for Inovant, a subsidiary of Visa formed to oversee global technology for the organization. As Executive Vice President of Technology Solutions at Inovant, he was responsible for all development, support and maintenance of Visa’s global payment system. Mr. Thompson was also Chief Information Officer of Barclays Global Investors, where he implemented a new strategic technology platform and global infrastructure. In addition, he has worked with Coopers and Lybrand, delivering information technology solutions to leading financial services clients such as Wells Fargo. Mr. Thompson received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Computer Science from Stonehill College.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - December 13, 2007 - PayPal today announced it has hired four top industry veterans to help drive the company's continued global growth. The four new members of PayPal's executive leadership team are Jack Stephenson, senior vice president of strategy and new ventures; Mary Anne Gillespie, vice president of sales; Barry Herstein, chief marketing officer; and Robert Mansell, vice president of product development.
With more than seven decades of combined experience at global companies including Avon, American Express, McKinsey & Company, Oracle and Visa International, the group brings a wide range of payments and technology expertise to PayPal's executive bench.
"It's a testament to PayPal's current success and its future market opportunities that we are able to attract executives of such high caliber. Eric Dunn
Eric C.W. Dunn has been one of our directors since April 2004. Since 2003, Mr. Dunn has been a General Partner at Cardinal Venture Capital. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Dunn owned and operated Kingston Creek Ventures. From 1986 to 2000, Mr. Dunn served in a number of senior executive capacities at Intuit, Inc., including Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Dunn is currently on the Board of Directors of Corillian Corporation and several private companies.
Randy Korba
Randy is president of Yousendit, a file-movement start-up based in Silicon Valley. Before joining Yousendit, Randy was the first executive hire at Notiva, an enterprise software company that serves the retail and consumer packaged goods industries. Until late 1999, Randy was director of business development for Amazon.com. During his time at Amazon, Randy's team was responsible for a large part of the company's growth in customer count from 3 million to more than 11 million. Randy came to Amazon from Junglee, where he built and managed the web commerce business from the day it brought in its first dollar of revenue until Amazon acquired it—less than a year later—for over $200 million. Randy has served as a formal advisor to several companies and organizations, including PayPal, Yodlee, eLance and the South Bay Leukemia Society. MBA, Stanford University. Reid Hoffman
Reid was LinkedIn’s founding CEO and is now Chairman and President, Products in February 2007. While CEO, Reid built the company to over 9 million members and profitability. He now drives product and business strategy for LinkedIn.
Prior to LinkedIn, Reid was Executive Vice President of PayPal, where he was in charge of all business relationships: business development, corporate development, international, government relations, and banking/payments infrastructure. At PayPal, Hoffman was instrumental to the acquisition by eBay and was responsible for partnerships with Intuit, Visa, MasterCard and Wells Fargo. Reid also has held management roles in large technology companies, including Fujitsu Software Corporation and Apple. In addition to LinkedIn, Reid serves on the Board of Directors for SixApart and Mozilla Corporation. Reid graduated with distinction from Stanford University with a B.S. in Symbolic Systems and from Oxford University with a Master’s degree in philosophy.
Shailesh Mehta
Dr. Mehta is president and CEO of Granite Hill Capital Ventures as well as chairman of Peach Direct, a private label credit card company. He was previously chairman of the board and CEO of Providian Financial Corporation, an S&P500 company. Dr. Mehta is a trustee of Cal State University . Known for his philanthropic activities, he formed the Shailesh J. Mehta and Kalpa S. Mehta Charitable Foundation, which has given millions in grants to various institutions. Dr. Mehta advises Beganto on matters of network marketing and peer-to-peer adoption.
Bill Elkus
Bill Elkus has enjoyed a successful 30 year career as a venture capitalist and family wealth manager. He was named one of the top 100 Venture Capitalists in the U.S. by Forbes Magazine in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
Bill founded Clearstone Venture Partners in 1997 and has been a Managing Member of its General Partners ever since. His current and past board memberships and observer roles include United Online (NASD: UNTD), Overture (acquired by Yahoo! in 2003), PayPal.com (acquired by eBay in 2002), the Chronicle Publishing Company (The San Francisco Chronicle and KRON television), Cooking.com, and WeddingChannel.com (acquired by The Knot in 2006).
Bill began his career at the Boston Consulting Group in 1977. As a strategic planning consultant, he worked in Menlo Park, Chicago, and Munich, covering such industries as semiconductors, magnetic recording media, and publications databases. Upon leaving BCG in 1982, Bill became president of Nathan Todd & Company, an investment advisory firm specializing in wealth management services and representing private family fortunes. Prior to founding Clearstone, Bill served as co-founder and managing director of a boutique Los Angeles merchant bank affiliated with Jefferies & Company, Inc.
Bill is a graduate of MIT, earning a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Management from Sloan School of Management. He graduated magna cum laude with a JD from the Harvard Law School.
