PiCloud’s mission is to simplify cloud computing. Cloud computing has revolutionized the way we allocate, provision, and pay for servers. With the appropriate know-how, renting a virtual server in a faraway datacenter can be done in minutes. While this alone is a momentous victory for developers worldwide, this is only the first step of cloud computing. We see cloud computing as an enabler of true utility computing, where computational power becomes as accessible and transparent as flipping a light switch.
We decided that the API of choice for manipulating the cloud, and more generally, any distributed system, is the programming language already being used to develop the businesses’ software. This allows for the highest level of granularity with regards to what should run on the cloud, while leaving the developer free of constraints. Most importantly, first-time developers can get on the cloud in only minutes, and are unaware of the cloud of servers they are using.
