Piper Ferguson was raised in Petaluma, California, just north of San Francisco. After studying Film and Spanish at San Francisco State University, she went on to study and work in Salamanca, Spain. After graduating she returned to Madrid to teach English and travel.

Piper moved to Los Angeles, where she started art directing music videos, commercials and features.

It wasn’t long before the musicians she met in her clubs began offering her jobs directing music videos. Intrigued by cameras and lighting, Piper sought to supplement her love of directing music videos by learning photography. She bought the Kodak 1970′s series on photography at a thrift store, taught herself the basic tricks of the trade, and in that DIY process discovered a new passion.

Piper rapidly starting shooting artists like Coldplay, Hot Hot Heat, The Shins, Modest Mouse,
Beck and Joe Strummer. Her editorial clients include Levi’s, Diesel, Filter Magazine, Swindle and Mojo, to name a few.
