Pixim Inc. has developed an imaging platform that produces substantially higher-quality moving and still images than those available through any other existing technology. Called the Digital Pixel System™ (DPS) platform, Pixim’s imaging system delivers unmatched flexibility and functionality by combining image capture and processing within a single optimized system. Pixim provides a complete digital imaging system, consisting of an image sensor, image processor, camera reference design kit, and key software and algorithms that allow camera developers to easily design and build high quality, advanced-featured cameras. The core DPS technology was conceived in the mid-1990s at Stanford University and licensed to Pixim in 1999. Since inception, Pixim has filed for 56 patents (with 43 issued) for the concepts and specific technologies that comprise the DPS platform.
