The privately held company was founded by Chairman Jeffrey Port, M. D., a thoracic surgeon, and Chief Technology Officer William Blair, an electrical engineer.
The company’s mission is to enhance patient safety by providing a cost-effective, easy to use and highly accurate system for detecting and preventing retained surgical sponges in patients undergoing surgery. After extensive research, consultation and testing, the company has developed patented technologies that have received FDA approval and will be marketed as the RF Surgical Detection System.
