Olivier Creiche, VP & GM Alliances
Leading Blogging Company Six Apart Names Olivier Creiche General Manager and Vice President, EMEA
San Francisco, CA – March 28, 2007 – Six Apart, the world's leading independent blogging software and services company, announced today that Olivier Creiche, formerly Director of Business Development for Six Apart S.A., Six Apart’s subsidiary based in Paris, has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of Six Apart EMEA.
Creiche joined Six Apart in 2004 when Ublog SA, the blogging service company he cofounded with Loïc Le Meur, was acquired by Six Apart. He quickly developed business partnerships with leading media companies in Europe and helped set Six Apart on a growth path in the region.
“Olivier has been a critical contributor to Six Apart’s success in Europe,” said Barak Berkowitz, CEO of Six Apart. “I’m delighted that he has agreed to take on more responsibilities as GM of EMEA as well as becoming a member of the seven person Six Apart management team.”
Before cofounding Ublog, Creiche spent ten years in sales and marketing positions in such companies as Danone, Pepsico, and BBDO, where he ultimately specialized in interactive marketing. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of South Dakota and is a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris.
Loïc Le Meur, former Executive Vice President and General Manager of Six Apart EMEA, will continue his involvement with Six Apart as Honorary Chair of Six Apart EMEA, and will continue to produce the LeWeb3 conferences he launched three years ago.

Christopher Alden, CEO/Chairman
Six Apart appoints Christopher J. Alden Chairman and CEO
San Francisco, CA – September 14, 2007 – Six Apart, the world’s leading independent blogging services and software company, today announced that Christopher J. Alden has been appointed Chairman and CEO. Alden succeeds Barak Berkowitz, who has served as Chairman and CEO since January 2004.
Chris Alden joined Six Apart over a year ago, most recently serving as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Professional Division of Six Apart, overseeing the TypePad and Movable Type businesses. Alden has a strong history of executive leadership and entrepreneurship at the intersection of media, communications and technology. Alden joined Six Apart as co-founder and CEO of Rojo Networks, Inc., a feed aggregation service which was acquired by Six Apart in 2006. Prior to Rojo, Alden was CEO of Red Herring Communications, the publisher of Red Herring magazine, which covered high-tech entrepreneurialism in Silicon Valley and beyond. Alden co-founded Red Herring in 1993 and under his tenure the company grew to more than 350 people, with large print, Internet and conference businesses. Alden brings all these experiences, skills and knowledge to his new leadership role at Six Apart.
Six Apart board member David Hornik of August Capital stated, “Barak leaves Six Apart in incredible shape, and now is the perfect time to pass the baton to Chris. I’m thrilled at the success of Six Apart so far and I look forward to working with Chris in building Six Apart’s future.”
Barak Berkowitz has served as CEO of Six Apart for almost 4 years. He first became involved in the company in early 2003, when he met Six Apart’s founders Ben and Mena Trott. Soon after, he joined the board representing Neoteny, Six Apart’s first investor. Under Berkowitz’s leadership Six Apart has experienced extraordinary growth in sales, products and geographical reach, adding offices in San Francisco, Tokyo and Paris and a world class team of over 150 people. He oversaw the growth of TypePad, Six Apart’s premier hosted service, the acquisition of LiveJournal, one of the web’s largest and most vibrant communities, the rollout of Vox, PC Magazine’s Editor’s Choice for blogging services, and the recent launch of Movable Type 4, the flagship professional product. Six Apart’s web entities now reach over 40 million people each month, and it is the global leader in blogging software and services.
In announcing his resignation, Berkowitz stated, “I am honored by the trust and faith the team, the board and Ben and Mena have put in me. It is rare that one has the privilege of spending almost 5 years working with such talented people, building great products and creating a thriving business that changes the world. As we’ve brought the business to scale, the board and I have been talking about my desire to take on a smaller role. With the company so stable and on a great growth track, it’s a natural time to make a transition but it would have been impossible if someone as talented and experienced as Chris was not around to hand the reins to. I look forward to continued involvement in Six Apart as an advisor to Chris, the executive team and the board, and I look forward to finding new challenges. But most of all I look forward to seeing Chris take Six Apart forward as the world leader in blogging.”
“We are of course very sad to see Barak go and thank him for being so instrumental in Six Apart’s success,” said Mena Trott, President and co-founder of Six Apart. “Chris has led, inspired and motivated an extremely talented team that has injected a new passion and life into Movable Type 4 as GM of our Professional Division. We’re incredibly excited about what Chris will be bringing to his new role at Six Apart.”
