“The mobile and touch will be the dominant computing ideas of the decade – so we need to re-invent search for them.” Steve Ives, Taptu CEO, 2007

It seems obvious today – but back when Steve, Stef and Bob got together to create Taptu, all they had was a hunch and a passion for creating great user experiences on small screens.

Picking up a bunch of other talented people on the way, they set about designing interfaces and starting the challenging process of building a search engine specifically for mobile devices.

Taptu first appeared on a mobile screen in October 2007. It gradually gathered momentum as a fast, fun alternative search machine, converting fans around the world.

In 2008 traffic exploded. Taptu started getting serious attention, picking up prestigious awards and receiving praise and plaudits from industry commentators.

2009 sees the unveiling of the Taptu App for iPhone and iPod touch – the world’s first search service specifically for touch devices and the touch web
