The I3000 is carefully designed for maximum flexibility in an open, standards-driven manner to support a growing multi-vendor ecosystem of interoperable compute and storage end-points.Reactive Ethernet
Ordinary 10GE switches respond poorly to most networking artifacts that can bring an entire data center network to a virtual standstill. Empirical evidence has shown that, in bursty environments, ordinary switches begin to drop packets at an average link utilization of 25% thereby rendering Ethernet unsuitable for mission critical applications that are sensitive to packet loss, latency, and link availability. The status quo industry response of providing “bandwidth to spare,” increases network complexity and cost of ownership.

Applications Acceleration Zone Switching
AZ-10GE compute/storage end-points deploy high-speed mechanisms to communicate with the switch module and accelerate applications performance on an end-to-end basis.

Rule-Changing Economics
The I3000 increases loss-free link utilization and decreases link count by a factor of up to 4x thereby also improving price/performance by the same factor.

Dual-Mode Operation
The I3000 switches between its two operating modes transparently.

Mode AZ-10GE Switching
The AZ-10GE Switch Module automatically detects the presence of a suitable NIC and configures itself for active collaboration in maximizing link utilization and in delivering load-invariant, loss-free performance on a sustainable basis. The AZ-10GE Switch Module is loosely coupled with any BladeCenter approved 10GE NIC and delivers best-in-class performance.
