Transmedia is the company responsible for the Glide Office suite, a set of web based applications that includes a word processor, presentation software, e-mail, calendar, contacts, and online photo, video, and music sharing. All of these applications function solely online.

Glide released a Spreadsheets app in November of 2007 to work online as well as on the desktop. The application opens up outside of your browser, yet syncs automatically with a browser based program. Transmedia didn't use google gears or Adobe AIR to add this functionality. They created it from scratch using C/C++.

Although the majority of heavy spreadsheet users find web based versions too anemic for their purposes, Glide is targeting their products at businesses and spreadsheet jockeys.«Less
