Management
Brad Barnes, CEO
Brad is the kid who's running trueAnthem. Okay, so he's not really a kid – he remembers vinyl records, so right there you know he's over 21. But he’s basically a kid who hasn't grown up yet. Which means he brings a fresh, innovative and creative spin to everything he does in life.
Take his role at trueAnthem, for instance. He's helping pioneer a new way for independent and undiscovered artists and bands to get paid while sharing their music with their fans for free – and without having to sign away their lives to a major record label.
And Brad knows his other skills – he has a history of creating, developing and managing companies that prosper – will help grow trueAnthem into the modern music label of the digital age.
Brian Wilhite, Chief Development Officer
Brian always dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. Yet somehow he ended up working on Wall Street in the financial services industry for 18 years.
Don't feel sorry for Brian, though.
A conversation about music one day with friends Chris and Joanna led to him connecting all the dots – and sparked the business vision for trueAnthem. Now he's able to use his incredible drive, entrepreneurial insight and innovation to help build trueAnthem into a successful global brand (all high flyers think really big).
And he's not too sad about the baseball thing. He still does all kinds of athletic stuff in his spare time, like surfing and heliskiing and running in ironman races. And as a huge music fan, he's living his other dream of working in the music industry.
Joanna Ifrah, Chief Creative Officer
Like thousands of other young girls, Joanna Ifrah dressed like Madonna (for her prom) and wanted to be a singer. Unlike thousands of other young girls, Joanna got a recording contract not once, but twice. But while singing was her passion and Madonna her idol, she instead set her sights on the business of music.
Starting out as an engineer in a recording studio, Joanna worked her way up the music mogul ladder, holding senior creative jobs at three of the four major record labels, working with some of the biggest names in music history, and helping find and develop new talent.
As trueAnthem’s guiding light and visionary, Joanna has turned her attention and talents to what she sees as the next big thing in music: the social networking scene and ad supported, online digital distribution of music. And, while some of the same basic tenets of the music business still apply (discover fresh talent and develop a fan base), she’s making up the new rules for today’s modern music label.
Chris Hart, Chief Technology Officer
Chris thought he wanted to be a marine biologist when he grew up. He says it has something to do with him being a Pisces. Then, in 5th grade, he got his first computer, and it all became clear what his real passion is. And it isn’t messing around with fish.
Chris is a technology expert, doing great things with software that only other technology experts understand. A life-long music lover, he is happiest when working on projects that combine technology with music.
At trueAnthem, Chris gets to be happy every day. He designed the widget, the neat technology gadget that lets trueAnthem's bands share their music with their fans for free – and lets fans listen to their favorite bands, spreading their music virally. And as if that isn't enough fun, Chris also gets to listen to trueAnthem's bands all day long.
