Truvideo has developed the next generation video compression technology beyond Discrete Cosine Transforms, wavelets and fractals. Our technology is based on advanced mathematical algorithms, with roots from statistics, and is called, Matching Pursuits or MP. This technology was invented in the video and image processing laboratory of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at U.C. Berkeley in 1994 under the supervision of Prof. Avideh Zakhor, who is the founder of Truvideo. MP offers a number of significant advantages over existing compression schemes; In particular, it results in significant bit rate savings in tight bandwidth sensitive applications, such as, wireless video, dial up modems, DSL streaming, and broadcast.
