Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli

Dr. Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli has served as a director of Cadence since 1992. Dr. Sangiovanni-Vincentelli serves as a consultant of Cadence, providing services as Chief Technology Advisor, and has served as a consultant to Cadence, or one of its predecessor corporations, since 1983. Dr. Sangiovanni-Vincentelli was a co-founder of SDA Systems, Inc., a predecessor of Cadence. Dr. Sangiovanni-Vincentelli has been a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley since 1976, where he holds The Edgar L. & Harold H. Buttner Chair of Electrical Engineering. In 1998, Dr. Sangiovanni-Vincentelli was elected to the National Academy of Engineering and, in 2001, was honored by the Electronic Design Automation Consortium with the Kaufman Award, honoring an individual who has contributed to creating or driving technological advances that have had measurable impact on the productivity of design engineers.

David Lane

For the past 25 years David Lane has created, built and financed information technology companies. During the past 20 years he has managed investment funds totaling in excess of $2 billion. In June 2000, David co-founded Diamondhead Ventures, which manages $140 million in its first fund. David is or has been actively involved in the following Diamondhead portfolio companies: Cranite Systems, Entercept Security Technologies (sold to McAfee), Availigent, Habeas and UPEK. Previously, David was a partner with Alpine Technology Ventures, a $72 million information technology-focused venture fund. Prior to joining Alpine, David spent seven years as one of the senior venture capital investment officers at the Harvard Management Company, which manages Harvard University's $28 billion endowment.

David has a passion for working with entrepreneurs spinning out of leading research universities. He is on the University of Southern California Engineering School's Board of Counselors, and was Chairman of USC's Commercialization/Technology Transfer Committee for the School of Engineering. He has guest lectured on entrepreneurship at many leading universities including UC-Berkeley, Stanford, Northwestern, UCLA, Cal Poly and USC. David earned his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and his B.S.E.E. from the University of Southern California.

Piero Martinotti

Mr. Martinotti has served as Chairman of the Board since 2006. Until 2003 he was Corporate Vice President of STMicroelectronics, responsible for its New Ventures Group, which was created to identify, evaluate and incubate opportunities for new business development. Prior to that, Mr. Martinotti has served in a number of leadership roles including CEO of Innovative Silicon Technology and Corporate Director of Technology and Strategy for SGS. He started his career at Motorola Semiconductors. Mr. Martinotti is currently a board member of Upek.
