Now that we have a hoard of existing map information floating idle, and people carrying increasingly capable mobile handsets around, we just felt the pity that the two do not connect.

Almost anywhere you go - be it a shopping center, theme park, airport, sports event, museum, tourist attraction, anywhere - you are handed a printed map of the place. Printed maps are great, and mobile ones will never replace them completely; but in some cases a mobile one will tell you something not available in printed form.
