Hook Mobile is a market leader in multimedia applications for mobile with a focus on multimedia messaging (MMS) as the medium of choice due to its mass market base of handsets and ease of distribution across carriers, handsets, and countries. The company provided the first cross-carrier MMS application in the U.S. with CBS in 2006. In 2007, the company extended its Platform to address the growing needs of Social Media (Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, etc.) application developers thus creating the first multimedia link between social networking apps and mobile devices.
Hook Mobile is a brand owned by WUPIMA Inc., whose founder and CEO is Terry Hsiao. Mr. Hsiao had founded the first carrier-grade SMS/MMS messaging company in the US in 2000, pioneered inter-carrier messaging platform and applications. In September 2006 InphoMatch/Mobile 365 was sold to Sybase, at the time with $100M in annual revenues and SMS/MMS connections with over 250 mobile carriers worldwide.
