Benchmark Capital was started in the year 1995 by four individuals, namely Bob Kagle, the marketing expert, Bruce Dunlevie, Andy Rachleff, expert in network equipment and telecommunications and Kevin Harvey. It is now under the partnership of six energetic entrepreneurs, namely Matt Cohler, Eric Vishria, Bill Gurley, Scott Belsky, Peter Fenton and Mitch Lasky.

Benchmark Capital started out is operations with its first headquarters at Menlo Park, California, later expanded to San Francisco and now is expanding globally. At Benchmark Capital equal ownership and compensation structure is adopted for all its partners. Thus, all the six partners have a n equal share in the profits of Benchmark Capital.

Benchmark Capital is a venture capital organization that has invested in more than 250 start-up companies including Twitter, Dropbox, Snapchat, Uber, Discord, Instagram, eBay, Domo, Nextdoor, WeWork, Stitch Fix Zipcar and many more. Benchmark Capital mainly focuses on investing in mobile, social, infrastructure and other enterprise software firms and working along with new and young entrepreneurs in taking the start-up companies to large scale transformational organizations.
