Spansion Appoints Ahmed Nawaz as Executive Vice President, Wireless Solutions Division
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov 21, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Spansion Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSN), the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, today announced the appointment of Ahmed Nawaz as executive vice president of the company's Wireless Solutions Division (WSD). Nawaz will report directly to the Office of the CEO.

Most recently, Nawaz was executive vice president of worldwide sales at Agere Systems. Prior to this, he was president of the integrated circuits division of Lucent's Microelectronics Group, with full responsibility for the company's $2.5 billion IC business. Additionally, Nawaz spent 14 years at Texas Instruments, where he held various engineering, applications, marketing and general management positions.
Nawaz has been a speaker and panelist at many industry conferences, including, SIGGRAPH, NCGA, MicroSystems Forum, and other PC, wireless and communication conferences, and is a member of the board of directors of Digi International. He holds a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri and a master's degree in Business Administration from Houston Baptist University.
