Andrew Merkatz brings to Familybuilder over 15 years experience in private and public equity investing, mergers and acquisitions and entrepreneurial management. Andrew is also the Managing Partner and Founder of CountryRoad Capital LLC, a New York boutique investment firm with investments in both public and private equities. At CountryRoad Capital, Andrew has made private technology investments that include Majestic Research, SocialMedia.com and iWin.com. Prior to founding CountryRoad Capital, Andrew served as Managing Director and CFO of Verus International, a New York based merchant banking firm focused on high growth sectors such as healthcare, technology and security. At Verus, Andrew helped to raise over $50 million in equity capital and engineered five public transactions over a four year period. Prior to joining Verus, Andrew was President and CEO of Predict It Inc., a publicly traded internet company. Previously, Mr. Merkatz was the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of SiteSpecific, one of the first internet advertising agencies. SiteSpecific was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal in September, 1996, and later served as the subject of the first Harvard Business School case study on Internet marketing. Andrew engineered the sale of a minority equity stake in SiteSpecific to Harte-Hanks Communications (NYSE: HHS), and subsequently led the sale of the firm to Silicon Valley-based CKS Group (Nasdaq: CKSG). Andrew began his career at Interlaken Capital, a private equity firm focused on acquiring controlling stakes in cash flow oriented business. Andrew received his B.A. in Economics with Distinction from the University of Pennsylvania and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
