Bill Elkus
Bill Elkus has enjoyed a successful 30 year career as a venture capitalist and family wealth manager. He was named one of the top 100 Venture Capitalists in the U.S. by Forbes Magazine in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
Bill founded Clearstone Venture Partners in 1997 and has been a Managing Member of its General Partners ever since. His current and past board memberships and observer roles include United Online (NASD: UNTD), Overture (acquired by Yahoo! in 2003), PayPal.com (acquired by eBay in 2002), the Chronicle Publishing Company (The San Francisco Chronicle and KRON television), Cooking.com, and WeddingChannel.com (acquired by The Knot in 2006).
Bill began his career at the Boston Consulting Group in 1977. As a strategic planning consultant, he worked in Menlo Park, Chicago, and Munich, covering such industries as semiconductors, magnetic recording media, and publications databases. Upon leaving BCG in 1982, Bill became president of Nathan Todd & Company, an investment advisory firm specializing in wealth management services and representing private family fortunes. Prior to founding Clearstone, Bill served as co-founder and managing director of a boutique Los Angeles merchant bank affiliated with Jefferies & Company, Inc.
Bill is a graduate of MIT, earning a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Management from Sloan School of Management. He graduated magna cum laude with a JD from the Harvard Law School.
