Byron Reeves
Professor Byron Reeves is director of the Center for the Study of Language and Information (CSLI) and Paul C. Edwards Professor of Communication at Stanford University. He is an internationally recognized expert on the psychological processing of media and technology in the areas of attention, emotions, learning and physiological responses. Reeves is co-author (with Clifford Nass) of "The Media Equation: How People Treat Computers, Television, and New Media Like Real People and Places."
Reeves' research has been the basis for a number of media and interactive voice products for companies such as Microsoft, IBM, General Magic, US West and Hewlett-Packard. He has also consulted with several media organizations, including The Disney Channel, The Advanced Television Test Center, the Federal Communication Commission and Congress. His academic background is in graphic design and music (B.F.A., Southern Methodist University), and communication and psychology (Ph.D. in Communication, Michigan State University).
