Dan Melinger

Dan Melinger is an entrepreneur and mobile technology executive. He has a passion for the design and deployment of disruptive telecommunications technologies for business and consumer markets.

Melinger is a co-founder and the CEO of Socialight, creator of a platform that lets companies build businesses around local content and community. Prior to Socialight, at Vaultus Mobile Technologies, he worked largely with leading global financial institutions including Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Deutsche Bank, developing and deploying custom mobile solutions. He also has experience in media production, gained at firms including CNBC and Bloomberg.

Melinger holds a Master's degree from New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) and a Bachelor's degree in Communications from the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania, where his undergraduate thesis explored the potential music industry impact of P2P technology, written before Napster became a dirty word.

In 2005, Melinger helped found the New York chapter of Helsinki-based MobileMonday, an organization that fosters NYC's mobile industry. He has spoken at numerous events including Producer's Guild of America New Media Council, PhoCusWright (travel technology), and LBS Summit at CTIA, and has been featured on the programs and pages of The Discovery Channel, The New York Times, WIRED, and Reuters.
