When Danny Meyer opened New York's Union Square Cafe in 1985, he helped pioneer an exciting new breed of restaurant, pairing excellent food and wine with warm hospitality and outstanding value. Continuing his success, Danny opened Gramercy Tavern in 1994. Both Union Square Cafe and Gramercy Tavern have received numerous accolades - including recognition in the 2000 Zagat Restaurant Survey as New York City's #1 and #2 most favorite restaurants respectively.

Capturing the spirit of his first two establishments, Danny opened two more restaurants in the fall of 1998 - Eleven Madison Park and Tabla. Danny has co-authored the best-selling Union Square Cafe Cookbook. Among his many honors are the 1996 James Beard Humanitarian of the Year Award and the IACP Restaurateur Award of Excellence.
