Gianni Operto
Gianni Operto is one of the partners at Emerald Technology Ventures AG that has emerged from SAM Private Equity in 2007. He was principal at SAM Private Equity from 2001 onwards and responsible for the venture capital business in the areas Energy, Materials and Water. Gianni has more than 26 years international experience in industrial technologies. He was co-founder of Nextech Venture, a venture capital fund focusing on start-up companies. Prior to that, he was CEO of the Zurich Municipal Electric Utility (EWZ). Previously, he was vice president at ABB Power Generation, responsible for the worldwide steam power plant services. He began his career in steam turbine product development and power plant commissioning. Gianni holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich and a he has completed the executive training program at London Business School.
