Jane Wales
Jane Wales is the President and CEO of the World Affairs Council of Northern California and Co-Founder of the Global Philanthropy Forum, a network of philanthropists committed to international causes. She is also host and moderator of the nationally syndicated National Public Radio interview show "It's Your World". Prior to Joining the Council, she served in a dual appointment as Associate Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Senior Director of the National Security Council. She chaired the international security programs at the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the W. Alton Jones Foundation, and she directed the Project on World Security at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. She is a former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and National Executive Director of the Physicians for Social Responsibility, which shared in the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize. She began her career as a writer/researcher for Congressional Quarterly. She has written extensively on international security, globalization, human security and on the role of organized philanthropy.
