Jawahar Bekay
Jawahar Bekay is the Chief Strategy Officer of GCI Inc., a $300 million US enterprise which has been rated by Deloitte & Touché as one of the fastest growing companies in the USA, 5 years in a row. Additionally, as the MD India he oversees the company’s various Indian operations.
Bekay is a co-founder and former CEO of Microland Limited and associated with the company since its inception. Between 2002 and 2005 he was the CEO of Planetasia, Asia’s pioneering e-business software services company.
Prior to this Bekay has been in various capacities with companies such as the Tata NELCO and Computer Point - India’s first retail chain of computers. He was based in the Silicon Valley, USA while setting up the export service business for Sonata Software in the late eighties.
With over 24 years of experience in building and managing technology businesses, he has been involved with outsourcing and the IT Services industry since its nascent stages. His expertise spans building and managing businesses and leaders.
He is a Charter Member of TiE (The IndUS Entrepreneurs), Bangalore Chapter and co-chairs the International Committee for the chapter. In the past, he has been a member of various industry bodies as well. Bekay is a graduate alumnus of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai and a post graduate alumnus of SP Jain Institute, Mumbai.
