Jill is a long-time open source expert and advocate. Over the past 17 years Jill has held executive and leadership roles at various technology start-ups. From emerging and disruptive technologies to business-to-business and consumer sectors, she led award-winning programs and teams for Fortune 100 companies, global brands, start-ups and at the world’s hottest communications agencies. As a strategist, writer, and blogger, Jill specializes in emerging business models and market strategy creating programs that contribute to the sales bottom line. From corporate marketing, global media and analyst relations, research, messaging and positioning, and branding to executive communications, she has led efforts in the offices of the CEO and COO, running programs for Abbott Laboratories, Adaptec, AMD, BEA, FileNet, LogLogic, MontaVista, SourceLabs, Sun Microsystems, VeriSign, Wind River Systems, Wyse and more. A former Vice President at Bite Communications, Jill also served as a part of the founding team as director of marketing and communications for the first embedded Linux statup, MontaVista Software and as an analyst and editor for DeviceForge (acquired by ZDNet). As co-founder of the Desktop Linux Consortium, she established an organization to promote open standards and Linux on thin clients and desktops worldwide for IBM, SuSE, Novell, CA, HP, Sun, and others successfully balancing the interests of the open source community with commercial. She built communities around open source at DesktopLinux.com, Linuxdevices.com and Microsoft devices portal, Windowsfordevices, (now ZDNet). Jill has a B.S. in political science from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
