Margaret Kavalaris
Margaret is responsible for managing Paymo's legal teams and guiding legal strategy in government and regulatory matters, corporate development and new business development. Margaret is a senior partner with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Washington DC, where she specializes in corporate finance, securities and intellectual property licensing for venture-backed, emerging growth companies.
Margaret has practiced law in Silicon Valley and Washington DC for over 20 years with DLA Piper and Cooley Godward Kronish, where she served in various executive management and founding partner positions for expansion offices, and worked with a wide variety of technology companies to incorporate them, secure initial rounds of financing, execute strategic technology and licensing deals, and manage their complex transactions such as mergers, acquisitions and initial public offerings. Margaret has been fortunate to advise successful technology ventures such as Informix, Vantive, Visigenic, Verity, Initiate Systems, Telocity, InPhonic, Everest Software, Sparta Systems, Gratis Internet and Distributive Networks, as well as investment banks in technology underwritings including JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs.
Margaret earned her bachelor's degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley, and her JD from the University of San Francisco, Kendrick Hall. She serves as a member of the Harvard Women's Leadership Board and Chair of the Women's Campaign Forum, Washington, DC.
