Michael O'Donnell
Michael O’Donnell, PhD, is founder and Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Health Promotion, Inc. Founded in 1986, the American Journal of Health Promotion was the first scientific journal to address the health promotion field. It remains the most widely read scientific publication devoted exclusively to health promotion with subscribers in 50 countries, and has spawned two newsletters: The Art of Health Promotion, and Health Promotion Global Perspectives. Dr. O’Donnell also serves as Director of Health and Wellness at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic.
In 1999, Dr. O’Donnell served as a Senior Fulbright Scholar and visiting professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Catholic University and the Graduate School of Health Sciences at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. After returning from Korea, he organized an advocacy effort in the United States, which has the long term goal of creating a world in which health promotion is integrated into all health professions and all elements of society, including national policy, schools, workplaces, health care organizations, families, and neighborhoods. Over 100 collaborating organizations have joined this effort.
Dr. Michael O’Donnell is an avid swimmer and hiker, and has been a vegetarian for 30 years.
