The Company has entered early human trials with its initial device, and intends to pursue a family of products to expand the capabilities and applicability of its product platform. Paracor has developed a novel device that is placed permanently around the heart in a minimally invasive surgical procedure. The delivery process is typically performed with a mini thoracotomy or sternal sparing approach, during an off-pump or beating heart procedure. The Paracor Device is an elastic nitinol mesh that is designed to mechanically reinforce the walls of the heart to slow or stop the enlargement process, ultimately decreasing the debilitating symptoms of HF. Once the dilation process, or enlargement of the heart, is brought under control, the heart is allowed to work more efficiently.«Less
